Employees those who deal with cash and treasury will get an allowance from Rs 700 to Rs 1,000 for handling a varied amount of cash, which was earlier between Rs 230 and Rs 900.

However, there is no announcement yet on the minimum pay hike of central government employees under 7th Pay Commission from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 which they were demanding for long. These employees are also demanding for an increase in fitment factor under 7th Pay Commission by 3.68 times from existing 2.57 times. However, given the election year, the government may announce more to placate central government employees.
In a different development, the government has announced 2.3 lakh recruitment in the Indian Railways over a period of two years. Narendra Modi government has also said in a statement that there will be 10 percent Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota reserved in these vacancies.
