7th Pay Commission Latest News: Demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), and stop privatisation in Ordnance factories, nearly four lakh defence sector civilian workers has launched a 3-day strike from January 23. They have demanded scrapping of National Pension System (NPS). The strike will end on January 25. They have threatened to go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met.

They demand the National Pension System (NPS) be scrapped and old pension scheme restored. The nation-wide strike was called by the All India Defence Emergency Federation. All India Railway Men’s Federation has also reportedly extended support to the strike. Ordnance factories’ workers

All India Railway Men’s Federation also went on a two days nationwide strike on January 8 and January 9, 2019, demanding for allowance under the 7th Pay Commission and implementation of Old Pension Scheme. Even as the government asked for some time, these Railway employees demanded their working structure be under ‘Work-to-rule’ policy.

National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers also observed strike on January 8 and January 9, 2019. These employees were also demanding reversal of ongoing privatisation and demand for the old pension scheme.
