Now, national level engineering and medical entrance examinations — JEE Mains and NEET — will be held twice a year from 2019. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting these tests.

Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said JEE exam will be held in Jan and April and NEET will be conducted in Feb and May. He said the main feature is that student will not lose a year because there will be two examinations before admission.

They can appear in either of the two or both. The best score will be taken into account for the result. Practice module will be made available at http://www.nta.ac.in from 1st August’2018. From august end, students can practice, if needed in the nearby engineering colleges, CBSE/KV schools, etc, the minister said in a twitter post.

Besides Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET), NTA would also conduct National Eligibility Test (NET), Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) exams.

“NTA will conduct computer based test. It will make exams safe, leak proof, scientific & transparent. The syllabus, nature of questions, choice of language & exam fee will not change .It will remain as it is,” he said.

“National Testing Agency (NTA) has started its work. It will conduct NEET (UG), JEE (Main), UGC-NET, CMAT & GPAT examinations. Millions of students to benefit.”
