Samagra Shiksha scheme: The government will provide an annual grant of Rs 5,000 – Rs 25,000 to every government schools for the purchase of sports equipment to support its Khele India Khile India mission. This initiative has been taken under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. The government has in recent years brought many changes in elementary and higher education.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Khelo India App. The government also recently announced that blackboards will be replaced with digital boards at schools across India. Besides that, repositories of online resources such as SWAYAM, among others, have been created. To promote innovation, Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) have been established in schools.
Hostel facilities have been now extended till class 12 for rural underprivileged girls in KGBVs, which were earlier available till class 8.
In higher education space too, many initiatives have been taken. The HRD Ministry recently increased the fellowship amounts for science subjects to attract talents. Besides that they will also be given other allowances in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The scholars will also be provided with various types of grants.
“Happy to announce that we have sanctioned 282 major Jt research projects btwn 69 Indian Institutions & 270 reputed foreign Univs frm 27 countries, at a cost of Rs179 cr under Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration #SPARC taking the research to next higher level,” HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said on his Twitter handle.
Under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme(NAPS), HRD Ministry also announced that it will provide apprenticeship training opportunities to the students who will complete their graduation this year. On the QS World Univ Rankings, Indian institutions figured in the global top 100 institutions in various subject categories.
