He was interviewed at Google on April Fools Day in 2004, but people weren’t sure whether it was just an April Fools joke, as Gmail was new at that time, the Google CEO revealed.
In his first three interviews he could not answer about Gmail as he had never used the product and thought it was a joke, Pichai recalled. However, Pichai answered at length when the interviewer asked him about Gmail in his fourth interview. However, his ignorance about Gmail did not eliminate him, instead, the interview explained him the product. During the interview, Pichai was honest and he never tried to mislead the interview. He didn’t know of Gmail because he had not used the product yet, Pichai revealed.
